Hiders are flat, paper-thin, bald creatures that camouflage against hospital walls in groups of 1 to 6, showing only their face and a faint body outline in Animal Hospital (Anomaly). Stay far away while looking at one and it holds still, but get close while making eye contact and it jumps off the wall, turns black, and chases you for about 5-6 seconds before evaporating — stealing an equipped Treatment item if it catches you, or draining 10 sanity if you're not carrying one.
Behavior
Flat, paper-thin, bald creatures with eyes and a grin similar to the Stalker that spawn in groups of 1-6, camouflaged on walls with only their face and a faint body outline visible. If observed from afar they stay still; if a player gets close while looking at one, it jumps off the wall, turns black, and chases the player for about 5-6 seconds before evaporating. If it catches an unaware player, it first steals an equipped Treatment item and stuns them; if the player has no items when caught, it drains 10 sanity instead. When provoked their face becomes hollow, similar to the Head Banger.
How to Respond
Spray with the Fire Extinguisher (works whether stationary or chasing), tase or shoot it, or simply outrun it — avoided Hiders eventually despawn on their own. Holding a spare Treatment item when Hiders are nearby lets them steal that instead of draining sanity. A Hider can also be lured into a Bed Monster's hitbox to remove both threats at once.
Quick tips
- Spray a chasing or stationary Hider with the Fire Extinguisher, or tase/shoot it, to deal with it directly.
- You can also just outrun it — an avoided Hider eventually despawns on its own after about 5-6 seconds.
- Carry a spare Treatment item when Hiders are nearby so it steals that instead of draining 10 sanity if it catches you.
- You can lure a Hider into a Bed Monster's red hitbox to remove both threats in a single move.
